Prematurity is one of the leading causes of mortality worldwide in children under the age of five. Depending on gestational week, oral feeding difficulties are common in infants who undergo preterm labor due to structural deficiencies in sucking, swallowing and breathing coordination. The most important step in the transition to oral feeding in preterm infants is the development of feeding skills. Practices supporting oral motor function development in preterm are the intervention methods used to maximize the growth and development of preterm infants and to provide effective feeding skills in the early period.
