With the increase in global competition, there has been growth in research on how to increase business efficiency and profitability. One focus is how businesses choose which software to use. Successful software implementation starts with choosing the right product to meet the organization’s specific needs; along with time, effort, and cost of implementation, poorly selected software can reduce the organization’s market share. However, choosing the right product can be extremely time-consuming and daunting. The present study examined the literature using the dimension.ai database while bibliometric analysis was performed using the VOSviewer program. Based on the analysis, the analyzed articles are clustered into four group. By listing the most commonly used criteria in the studies, the analysis identifies the studies’ deficiencies and new criteria are presented for the current needs of the businesses. Finally, recommendations for future studies and the sector are given.The findings of this study will both help software product companies’ marketing and sales teams develop key points and also enable end user organizations to make informed decisions in selecting software packages.
