Öz
This study examines the themes of hunger and survival in the South Korean film Winter Butterfly (2011) from a cinematographic perspective. The film explores the devastating effects of hunger on individuals and society through the tragic story of a mother and son struggling to survive under harsh conditions in a rural area. Within the scope of the analysis, the film's narrative style, visual elements, and social messages are evaluated in detail, discussing the profound impact of hunger and survival struggles on the characters' psychology. The desperation and hopelessness caused by hunger are conveyed through striking cinematographic choices, clearly revealing the destructive consequences of this struggle on individuals. The melodramatic storytelling and social critique characteristic of Korean cinema are evident in the film's thematic treatment. By presenting individual suffering and social inequalities through compelling cinematography, the film once again demonstrates cinema's power to address societal issues. This analysis shows that Winter Butterfly is not merely a survival story but also a significant work that exposes the profound effects of hunger on individuals and societies.

Öz
Bu çalışma, Güney Kore yapımı Winter Butterfly (2011) filminin açlık ve hayatta kalma temalarını sinematografik açıdan incelemektedir. Film, kırsal bir bölgede zorlu koşullarda hayatta kalmaya çabalayan bir anne ve oğlun trajik hikâyesi etrafında, açlığın birey ve toplum üzerindeki yıkıcı etkilerini ele almaktadır. Analiz kapsamında, filmin anlatım dili, görsel ögeleri ve toplumsal mesajları detaylı bir şekilde değerlendirilerek açlık ve hayatta kalma mücadelelerinin karakterlerin psikolojisi üzerindeki derin etkileri tartışılmaktadır. Filmde açlığın yol açtığı çaresizlik ve umutsuzluk, çarpıcı sinematografik seçimlerle aktarılmakta ve bu mücadelenin bireyler üzerindeki yıkıcı sonuçları açıkça gösterilmektedir. Kore sinemasının melodramatik anlatımı ve toplumsal eleştiriye olan ilgisi, filmin temasının işleniş biçiminde kendini gösterir. Film, bireysel acıları ve toplumsal eşitsizlikleri etkileyici bir sinematografiyle gözler önüne sererek sinemanın toplumsal meseleleri ele alma gücünü bir kez daha kanıtlamaktadır. Bu inceleme, Winter Butterfly filminin sadece bir hayatta kalma öyküsü olmadığını, aynı zamanda açlığın bireyler ve toplumlar üzerindeki derin etkilerini gözler önüne seren önemli bir yapıt olduğunu göstermektedir.
